The gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes
~ Romans 1:16
The Gospel
Gospel means ‘good news’. The gospel is not a vague philosophy. It is based on three historical facts. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the price for your sins. He was buried, and He rose from the grave three days later. If you believe these facts, and you go on believing these facts, you will be saved from judgment. Your sins are forgiven. That is good news indeed.
When you take hold of these truths the Holy Spirit enters your life and He brings the power of God to work in you and to change you, little by little, into the image of Christ.
God is able, without compromising His righteousness, to grant you legal right-standing, because you believe in Christ. At the same time, because you are cleansed by faith, the Holy Spirit can take up residence in your spirit. He leads, corrects and empowers you to do what you are not able to do in your own strength.
Salvation is by faith – from first to last – and it is entirely focused on God in Christ.
